20 June 2020
We have received new guidance from the Chief Dental Officer and Department of Health.
From Monday 29th June, we will be allowed to see patients for non-urgent treatments which will not create a fine spray, known as aerosol (non-AGP). This means we cannot use dental drills or ultrasonic scalers, so our range of treatment is still limited.
From Monday 20th July, we will be allowed to see patients for a full range of treatments, including aerosol generating procedures (AGP).
We have been making preparations in the practice to make it safe for our patients to return, and we will update you on these measures soon.
We have been extremely restricted to a very limited range of treatments since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have been triaging patients who have been experiencing problems, or who have incomplete treatment from before the restrictions came into place, and adding them to waiting lists so we can contact them when we are able to carry out the treatment they need.
As restrictions are lifted, there will be limited appointment slots available and a very large number of patients waiting for treatment, and this means we will be working through the lists on a priority basis at first and contacting patients to book appointments based on their need for treatment and whether it falls into the non-AGP or AGP category.
If you have spoken to us on the phone or been in the practice since the restrictions have been in place, or if you had an appointment booked which was then cancelled, you are on a waiting list and we will get in contact with you as soon as we can offer you an appointment.
If you are having any new problems, such as severe pain, swelling, trauma to teeth or any other concerns about your mouth, please do phone the practice. A dentist will triage your problem and provide advice or an emergency appointment if required, or you may be added to a waiting list.
